Independence day of Corea
Gwangbokjeol, (literally “Restoration of Light Day”) celebrated annually on August 15, is one of the Public holidays in South Korea. It commemorates Victory over Japan Day, which liberated Korea from colonial rule. (from wikipedia)
There is no tomorrow (Asked with young mind)
Yoon Dong Ju
They always say, tomorrow, tomorrow.
So I ask them when it does come.
They reply, “When it dawns, tomorrow comes.”
Get to sleep looking forward the day comes.
When I awake and look around
I find no tomorrow.
Rather I find the today that has already come.
My folks!
There is no tomorrow
Yoon Dong Ju is my favorite and perhaps, Coreans’ favorite poet who wrote many Inspirational poetries during the period of Japan’s colonial rule over the Corean peninsula. He died when he was 27 years old while incarcerated by the Japanese government with the charge of involvement in the independence movement for Korea.
